Two Tips to Follow if You've Hired a Tennis Coach

Recreation & Sports Blog

If you're using a tennis coaching service, here are some tips to follow.

Consider purchasing a tennis ball machine if you don't live near a tennis court

If you don't have any tennis courts near your home, then you should consider getting a tennis ball machine and using this to supplement your sessions with your tennis coach. Much like with any new activity, the more often you practise, the quicker you'll progress.

If you have a couple of sessions with a tennis coach each week and are unable to do any work on your tennis game during the rest of the week, you may find that it will take you much longer to get the hang of the trickier tennis strokes, like the backhand smash, simply because you haven't given yourself enough opportunities to practise them.

Whilst a tennis ball machine may be expensive, it could be a good investment, as you should find that your tennis coaching sessions quickly become more satisfying and fun due to the fact that using this machine in between your sessions will help you to improve the speed and quality of your tennis strokes, as well as your hand-eye coordination and your arm strength. If a new machine is too costly, you could always look for secondhand ones or perhaps find out if there are any businesses that rent out these machines in your local area.

Record your tennis coaching sessions

You should also consider recording your tennis coaching sessions. This will allow you to pay closer attention to the corrections the coach makes to your grip on your racket or to your posture when you're in the ready position, and it will help you to better understand what your body is supposed to look like when it is in the aforementioned position or holding the racket correctly.

Doing this will also allow you to observe your progress, as you will get to see, week after week, just how much your footwork, strokes and agility have improved. This could be very motivating to watch, particularly after any tough coaching sessions when you find yourself unable to master a particular stroke or end up missing one shot after another.

It's important to give your coach a heads-up if you want to do this to find out if they are ok with being recorded. If not, you can always point the camera at yourself and ensure that your coach is out of shot before you start recording.

How I Fell in Love with the Sea

Hi, there! Welcome my friend to my new blog. When I was a child, I hated the water. When my dad tried to teach me how to swim in the local pool and burst out crying and ran to my mother's arms. After that traumatic experience, I decided that I wasn't going to near the water ever again. I managed to keep myself dry for the next 27 years. I met a wonderful woman who loved to swim and sail on the open sea. She encouraged me back into the water and I had an amazing time. I now own a sailboat and take part in swimming competitions. I hope you enjoy my blog.
